Join Us for Community Christmas Caroling

Join your friends and neighbors in the beauty of historic WinMock at Kinderton this Sunday evening, December 9th, for the perfect event to get your Christmas spirits in high gear! Church of the Good Shepherd, a new church organizing in East Davie County, is hosting a free Community Christmas Caroling event beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be a reading of the Christmas Story and singing of classic carols that we all know and love. Desserts, coffee, hot chocolate and apple cider will be provided.

Church of the Good Shepherd in East Davie County is being organized as a mission of Christ Church, Winston-Salem. Both are part of the Anglican Church in North America and the worldwide Anglican Communion. Church of the Good Shepherd will begin services in January, 2013, at WinMock at Kinderton.

Joining Church of the Good Shepherd as co-hosts are WinMock at Kinderton, the Clemmons Courier, the Davie Enterprise-Record, Macedonia Moravian Church, Calvary West, M. Gioeli Photography, Master Counsel Technologies, and Sterling Events.

We hope to see you in the Loft on Sunday!

Official Announcement: Sterling Events Group Selected to Receive 2012 Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina

For Immediate Release
Sterling Events Group Selected to Receive 2012 Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina

(Clemmons, NC)Sterling Events Group is pleased to announce that they have been selected to receive the 2012 Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina for their renovation of the historic barn turned conference center, WinMock at Kinderton.  According to Preservation North Carolina, the Carraway Awards are presented each year to people and organizations demonstrating genuine commitment through extraordinary leadership, research, philanthropy, promotion and/or personal participation in historic preservation.

“We are both honored and humbled to receive this special recognition”, shared Wayne Thomas, president/owner of WinMock at Kinderton and Sterling Events Group. “From the onset of this renovation project, it was imperative that we ensured the plans for this grand barn stay true to its historical integrity while adding the modern conveniences our clients enjoy today.”

The property, an iconic 20,000+ square foot barn, was built in the late 1920s and survives from the country estate built by S. Clay Williams, a former president of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.  During its prime, WinMock was one of the largest dairies in North Carolina and in December 2010, the property was awarded a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Since its opening in June 2011, WinMock has hosted over 500 corporate, non-profit and wedding events and has been visited by more than 30,000 guests.

Thomas adds, “It certainly took a village to successfully transform and breathe new life into the barn. Without the dedication of key partners like BB&T, West & Stem Architecture, Windsor Commercial Contractors, Kinderton Commercial Center, the Town of Bermuda Run, and local Davie County officials, the renovation of WinMock would not have been possible. We want to express our sincere appreciation for their support and share this recognition with each one of them.”

The award will be presented on Friday, September 21st at Preservation North Carolina’s Annual Conference in Asheville.

A Giant Thank YOU

We want to extend a giant thank you to the hundreds of you who joined us for our Anniversary Event and Food Drive! Together we collected over 1,400 pounds of food to stock the shelves of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. Your generous donations will help feed hundreds in need this summer. Summer is a critical time for donations as many children go hungry without the aid of government supported school lunch. We appreciate you taking time out of your Sunday to help us make sure those needs are more likely met.

And special thanks to our generous event sponsors for making our special performance by the Katelyn Marks Band possible: Hauser Rentals, Yadtel Group, Piedmont Facility Services, West and Stem Architects, and Windsor Commercial

The Granary at WinMock – Update!

Hi friends!  As many of you know, in the midst of all of the beautiful weddings, creative meetings, special dinners and other comings and goings at WinMock, we have been “quietly” working on our latest pet project around back.  We have been carefully working with our fantastic renovation crew again to transform the small former granary barn into an additional event space and we’re making great progress each and every day.  As of today, we’re right on track to open her doors in a few short weeks and we simply cannot wait for you to see!

Now we know ya’ll are eager for a peek inside, so to whet your appetite here are a few shots of our renovations along the way from our good friend Tom McCulloh of TMphotography.  More to come!

Debuting This Winter : The Granary at WinMock

Friends, you spoke and we listened.  While we originally had plans to transform the small granary barn at WinMock into offices for the growing team over at our parent company, Sterling Events Group, we have since decided (with your encouragement – thank you!) to transform the small barn into a second special events venue.

NC Outdoor Wedding And Barn Reception – Dawn + Patrick

After a stormy start to our wedding season, the skies finally parted to give way to our first official outdoor wedding at the barn.  Bride, Dawn, her groom, Patrick,  and their family and friends brought a wonderful energy to WinMock and shared not one but three events with us during their wedding weekend: rehearsal dinner in the Forsyth Room, wedding ceremony on the East Terrace and wedding reception in The Loft.

A special thanks to our friends at Jessica Marie Photography in Mocksville, NC for sharing these special pics and favorite moments with us.

Planning An Outdoor Wedding Or Event? Don’t Forget Your Weather Backup Plan.

Who doesn’t love an outdoor southern event?  Warm sun, fresh air, Carolina blue skies… the perfect landscape for memories to be made.  The flipside:  Sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate and creating a fail-safe weather backup plan will keep you cool and confident no matter what comes your way on event day.

When booking your outdoor wedding or event, we highly recommend you inquire about also renting an available indoor space on property to keep logistics much more manageable if you have to switch gears.   And if you don’t need to move the festivities completely indoors, how about using it for a cocktail hour or lounge area? Maybe it can become an area of respite for mothers with young kids? Or a place to set-up a photo display?

We didn't let this pesky shower slow down our couple's big day. We said farewell to the East Terrace, and hello to love in the Loft!

The Loft was changed from a room full of tables and chairs to what you see here in about 30 minutes. Not a bad plan B wouldn't you say?

At WinMock, we offer two outdoor terraces, the East and the West.  We also offer our event clients multiple indoor space options, including our stunning Loft ballroom, which can be rented separately to serve as the perfect backup if Mother Nature happens to throw a wrench in your outdoor plans.
